Our Counselling and Wellbeing team supported the Samut Prakan Provincial Public Health Office to deliver training for government health personnel. The programme focused on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), equipping public health staff in primary care units with practical skills to better assess, analyse, and plan assistance for individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges.

Strength in a global, multilingual, experience Counselling and Wellbeing team
School Counsellor Mr Jump played a central role in this initiative, delivering the training in Thai and sharing his expertise through sessions on Introduction to CBT and Behaviour Modification. His ability to present complex concepts in the local language ensured participants gained both confidence and practical strategies to use in their daily practice.
This contribution highlights not only Mr Jump’s recognised expertise and experience, but also the strength of St Andrews’ global and multilingual academic team. With staff who bring diverse perspectives and language skills, our school can connect meaningfully with communities across Thailand and beyond.

A commitment to training and development of wellbeing and mental health beyond the school
As Director of Whole School Counselling and Wellbeing, Ms Amy, shared: “This project shows how our care for wellbeing doesn’t stop at the school gates. By sharing our knowledge with local health teams, we’re helping more families in Thailand receive the support they need.”
School Director Khroo Noke added, “We are proud that our staff can contribute to the wider community. It’s a wonderful example of how St Andrews students, parents, and teachers are part of something bigger, making a difference in Thai society.”
Director of Whole School Learning Support, Ms Catherine, reflected: “Working alongside Thai government offices allows us to share our strengths and learn from others. It shows that our school community cares deeply about wellbeing across Thailand. We’re also proud that this work reflects our commitment to the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM), as St Andrews is the first international school outside the UK to achieve the IQM Centre of Excellence Award.”
Through initiatives like this, St Andrews can spread awareness and expertise on well-being, mental health, and community-driven support.
