Festival choir, a centerpiece of Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard in Geneva, is a collaborative ensemble that brings together performers of all disciplines. Dancers, actors, singers, pianists, and strings players come together to create artistry and enrich community through choral performance. Meeting daily, Festival Choir is comprised of both students and faculty under the direction of our Choir Director, Dr. Lynnel Jenkins. The artistic and educational setting allows for everyone to engage in collaborative singing and to experience artistic excellence regardless of past singing experience.
Festival Choir explores varied works ranging from early music to master works to contemporary works, and includes repertoire that is both accompanied and unaccompanied. The musical experiences through collaborative singing supports the performers overall artistic development and allows for greater artistic expression, among other skills, in their major. In a culminating performance, Festival Choir presents a varied program of choral works for family, friends and staff with the support of a collaborative pianist and conductor, allowing the entire Summer Arts community to perform as one at the close of the program.
