The University Guidance Department is an integral part of the Sixth Form Study Centre with an area dedicated to personalised support. We provide students and parents with all the information, support and guidance they need to make informed decisions about universities and careers.
It is essential that students have the opportunity to explore their potential and recognise their individual skills to fully understand what they want to do next. Our dedicated University Guidance Counsellor aims to help students make their subject, university and possible career choices, by providing a wealth of support and information. This is done in a number of ways:
1. One-to-one Guidance
Students receive one-to-one guidance to help them decide which course and university best fits their profile. Parents are also encouraged to make appointments to discuss any related issues, such as university choices and related processes, A Level option choices and the implications of any subject change.
2. University Application Support
We work together with each student and help them navigate their way through the different university application systems, guidance on their personal statement or college essays, mock interviews and research techniques.
3. Additional Support
Throughout the school year, representatives from many prestigious universities in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, and Europe come to speak to our students. Students also have the opportunity to attend university fairs.
We hold University Information Evenings and one-to-one meetings which kick-start the university research process. Through our PSHE programme, students are provided with opportunities to explore a variety of academic and career pathways and undertake a series of research exercises to help clarify their interests, strengths and areas for development.
