Key Stage 2 students perform at the FOBISIA Performing Arts Carnival in Malaysia.

Last Thursday, March 27th to Sunday 31st, five Key Stage 2 students from BSB Sanlitun went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to perform in the FOBISIA music carnival. All were involved in the orchestra, three played flute and one played violin. The students were very excited to go to Kuala Lumpur, and were not disappointed (despite the long flight!). Here is a report from Julia Chen, Eileen Seo and Charlotte Liu in Year 6.

On the first day we had a welcome dinner in the Marriot hotel and we loved the buffet dinner! After the delicious dinner we went to sleep for the exciting next day.

The next day we went to see Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra rehearsal. We really enjoyed the wonderful rehearsal. After that we walked around the park and we had an outdoor lunch. Then we went to the aquarium which was so interesting! After the visit to the aquarium we went to Alice Smith School and we had a practice session for every piece. Hard work but worth it!

On the third day we enjoyed three workshops. We had lots of fun with these! Again we practiced for our performance because we know perseverance pays off!

On the last day, we went through our final rehearsal in the Alice Smith School with the choir. Then we watched the drama and dance performance which was spectacular. After lunch we had our concert, which was amazing and we were so proud of our achievements! We finished off FOBISIA event with the Gala dinner where we celebrated our success!

We would like to say a MEGA thank you to Mrs. Mitford who organised the trip for us, she is such a passionate Music teacher and leader who really takes the time to make our music education so meaningful and rewarding. We strongly recommend that students next year take the challenge and attend the FOBISIA Music Carnival as it is something you will remember in years to come!
