It has been a great week for learning new topics in all Chinese classrooms. Students learned new texts and Chinese characters by engaging in a variety of activities.
Reception children have been learning about how seeds dispersal and grow. After listening and singing to the song A Leaf Grows, children demonstrated their knowledge about what a seed needs to grow into a plant. They love this song and enjoy singing and dancing along.
Year 1 Native Group students are learning a chant Frog Writes Poems. Through this interesting children's chant, they learned about how commas, periods and ellipses look like. They also worked hard to practise writing new Chinese characters and reviewed Pinyin.
Students in Year 3 Native Group were learning two Chinese ancient poems about a tall pagoda and the grassland. While reading the poems, students imagined the scenery described in the poems. They also enjoyed the songs based on the poems.
Year 5 Native Group students have been learning a text ‘the Beautiful Xiaoxing’an Mountains’. They focused on how to describe a place in chronological order. They also tried to write sentences with the key target phrases in the text.
