The Wait is over – The BISAD International Cookbook is Finally Yours!

Key Stage 3 students took part in the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) Junior Humanities Championships 2022 from 7th–9th June.

As part of BIS Abu Dhabi’s World Ocean Day celebrations last week students created a poster, using what they had learnt on how to save our oceans.

On Monday, 13th June Year 10 students began their exploration of their new topic: Developmental Psychology, by learning about 5 key areas of the brain.

On Wednesday, 1st June after two long years, it was wonderful, once again, to welcome parents into FS2 for a Stay and Play session!

Message from the Vice Principal, Mike Wolfe.

With the sad passing of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, it seemed unlikely that the school would be able to hold this year’s Graduation Ceremony. However, with permission granted at the eleventh hour, staff had just enough time to pull together a slightly adapted version of the previously planned event, now in the school’s Main Hall rather than Abu Dhabi University auditorium.

In Year 6, the students have been learning about animals including humans in their Science topic.

BIS Abu Dhabi recently hosted staff from the University of Nottingham.

The BIS Abu Dhabi community has donated a substantial amount to Red Crescent.

It has been an exciting time to have dance back on the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme. The return to dance allowed students to participate in the choreography challenge for the British Schools Middle East (BSME) Dance Festival 2022.

Science, Science, Science! Thursday, 26th May brought an array of scientists to the school (who knew scientists could come in so many different forms)!

BIS Abu Dhabi has developed a co-curricular program ‘Project Minerva’ as a way to celebrate and champion the Gifted and Talented individuals across the Secondary School. Project Minerva was designed for and is delivered to gifted and talented students on a weekly rotation, at lunch times or after school. It provides secondary students with the opportunity to develop their analysis, reflection, and deeper critical thinking skills beyond the classroom.

On Thursday, 19th May, BSAD vs BSAK chess tournament went ahead with great results achieved from students in both schools who played some excellent chess and were great sportsmen and sportswomen, congratulating each other on GG (good games).

The secondary Biology specialists shared their expert skills in dissecting an animal heart with the Year 6 teachers.
