Year 6 Science Experiment

Year 6 Science Experiment - Year 6 Science Experiment
Year 6 Science Experiment
Year 6 are learning about the circulatory system and spent some time making blood.

Students used yellow food colouring and water to represent plasma, red food colouring and Cheerios to represent red blood cells, marshmallows/cotton wool to represent white blood cells and raisins to represent platelets.

The students then covered their blood with a balloon and inserted a straw which represented the heart and the pulmonary artery. It was great fun, and the students especially enjoyed the moment when they pumped the balloon and saw their homemade blood squirt out of the straw!

Year 6 students are all so excited and a little nervous to be dissecting a real heart soon.
