Embracing Digital Innovation at BIS Abu Dhabi
At BIS Abu Dhabi, we have embraced the exciting potential of digital technology in the classroom, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Just recently, one of our students trialled an AI-powered learning platform that provided personalised feedback on their essay, helping them improve their writing skills in real time. This experience exemplifies how AI can tailor educational experiences to each individual’s needs, allowing for a more customised and engaging learning journey. By incorporating AI into our curriculum, we aim to support our students in becoming creative problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and confident digital citizens who are ready to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world.

However, the rapid adoption of technology brings its own set of challenges, both for students and their families. Many families find it difficult to strike the right balance when it comes to screen time, and students often face issues like digital fatigue or distractions from the vast array of online content. Additionally, some students may struggle to navigate the complex digital tools that have become central to their learning. These challenges can sometimes create a sense of overwhelm, making it hard to fully appreciate the benefits of these technologies in education.

To ensure our students use digital tools responsibly and effectively, it is essential for schools and families to work together. At BIS Abu Dhabi, we encourage ongoing conversations with parents about setting healthy digital habits and providing guidance on how to use technology thoughtfully. By establishing clear expectations around screen time, offering opportunities for students to disconnect and engage in offline activities, and teaching digital citizenship, we can create an environment that nurtures both the academic and personal growth of our students. Together, we can help them harness the power of technology in a way that enhances their learning while maintaining a sense of balance and responsibility.

As we continue to integrate technology into our school, we are also reviewing how it is being used to ensure it aligns with our educational goals and supports the well-being of our students. We would greatly appreciate hearing from our parent community about their thoughts and expectations regarding technology use in the classroom. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us shape a learning environment that balances innovation with thoughtful consideration of what is best for our students. Please feel free to share your insights and suggestions with me directly via email at alan.grant@bisad.ae. Together, we can create the best possible digital experience for your children.
