For Wadeed, Year 12, a quiet confidence and love for Business Studies have led to something extraordinary. This year, he achieved the highest grade in the world for the 2025 IGCSE Business Studies exam, scoring an incredible 149 out of 160.
But behind the headline is a story of growth, resilience, and the power of great teaching.
In Year 10, Wadeed struggled with exam technique and confidence. By Year 11, things began to shift. He started building structured answers, using active recall, and diving into past papers and mark schemes. He learned how to think like an examiner and how to apply his knowledge creatively.
“I never imagined I’d get the highest mark in the world,” he says. “I just wanted to improve.”
A big part of that improvement came from the support around him. His teacher, Ms. Chowdhury, saw his potential early on.
“He was curious, thoughtful, and always willing to go deeper,” she shares. “We worked with him through tutorials, peer assessments, and case studies to help him connect theory with the real world.”
The Business department at BIS Abu Dhabi is known for its dynamic approach, blending academic rigor with practical relevance. Students are encouraged to explore, question, and apply, and Wadeed thrived in that environment.
He also found support in his peers, his family, and the school’s quiet study spaces and structured revision sessions.
“It all helped,” he says. “I felt like I had everything I needed to succeed.”
Now in Year 12, Wadeed is studying IB Business Management at Higher Level. He’s mentoring his sister, sharing tips, and thinking about a future in business or a joint degree.
“I feel more confident now,” he says. “I want to keep pushing myself.”

For Ms. Chowdhury, this recognition is deeply meaningful.
“It’s not just about one student,” she says. “It’s about what happens when teaching is personal, adaptive, and rooted in real understanding. We’re proud to be part of that journey.”
Wadeed’s story is a celebration of what’s possible when students are supported, challenged, and believed in. It’s a moment of pride for our school and a reminder that world-class results begin with world-class relationships.
