Meet Keldan, Class of 2026 BTEC Business Graduate

Keldan joined The British International School Abu Dhabi in August 2022 as a Year 10 student. Over the past four years, he has made the most of his time both academically and beyond the classroom, recently graduating with D*D*D* in the BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business.

Reflecting on his results, he shared, “I was really proud and happy. It was rewarding to see all the hard work I had put in over the past two years pay off.”

Keldan will continue his studies at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, where he will study International Business.

“I chose it because of its practical approach to learning and its international environment in one of Europe’s biggest business cities,” he explained.

For Keldan, International Business was a natural choice. It is a subject that reflects both his interests and his ambitions for the future.

“I have chosen to study International Business because business has always interested me, and it offers a wide range of opportunities internationally,” he said.

As he prepares to move to the Netherlands, Keldan is looking forward to the independence and new experiences that come with university life.

Keldan believes the BTEC Programme at BIS Abu Dhabi has helped prepare him well for this next step.

“BTEC helped me develop and improve practical skills such as time management, organisation and critical thinking, which will help me a lot throughout university,” he said. “I also learnt skills inside the classroom like teamwork and communication, which will be valuable at university and in my career.”

Beyond the classroom, sport played an important role in Keldan’s BIS Abu Dhabi journey. He played rugby throughout his time at school and, in his final year, had the opportunity to captain the team at the Dubai 7s tournament.

This was a proud moment and a reflection of the leadership, resilience and teamwork he developed during his time at BIS Abu Dhabi. Rugby gave him the chance to represent the school, challenge himself and contribute to a team environment where commitment and discipline mattered.

His final year brought unexpected challenges and disruption to his studies, but Keldan stayed focused by taking a calm and disciplined approach.

“I was able to stay organised and focused by dealing with one thing at a time and realising that you can’t control everything,” he said. “It taught me the importance of consistency, resilience and staying disciplined.”

These lessons will continue to support him as he takes on the independence of university life in a new country.

Looking ahead, Keldan hopes to build a career in international business, gain experience in a large corporation and one day start his own business.
