National Merit Finalist There is no limit to what our students can achieve. We encourage every student to develop strong skills and values, so they can thrive academically and socially. Every student is unique, with their own individual passions and talents. We lay the foundation for them to succeed. But it is their drive, creativity and ambition that takes them to new heights. Congratulations Year 13 student, Thomas, who has qualified as a finalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Progam. This is an outstanding achievement. Each year, about 1.6 million students take the PSAT. Of the juniors who take the exam, approx 1% earn scores that qualify them as Semifinalists. This group is narrowed down to 15,000, who become Finalists. Of this group, about 7,500 are awarded scholarships of $2,500 a year (that can be renewed each year you're in college).

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
