Year 12 Achievers Daria & Idenya Selected to Share Ideas on the World Stage We are delighted to announce two Year 12 students Daria & Idenya have been selected by UNICEF to represent BIS Houston as this year’s High-Level Political Forum panelists in New York.

We are delighted to announce Year 12 students Daria and Idenya have been selected by UNICEF to represent BIS Houston at this year’s High-Level Political Forum panelists in New York. This is an outstanding privilege and honor. The NAE-UNICEF Student Summit is a unique opportunity for our students to contribute to the discussion on the Global Goals and influence policy at the highest level.

As part of Nord Anglia Education’s collaboration with UNICEF, student ambassadors from our schools around the world visit New York every summer to demonstrate how our schools are working to meet the United Nation’s Global goals for Sustainable Development, including through the annual Global Challenge.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 goals set by the United Nations regarding social and economic development issues. The idea is for nations to tackle all of these goals by 2030 to make the world a better place with the help of citizens and companies.

UNICEF is challenging students at Nord Anglia Education to raise awareness of the goals and to work with their local communities to create solutions.

What is the Student Summit?

Student ambassadors from different Nord Anglia Education schools have been invited by UNICEF to meet in New York to move the needle on the Global Goals. They will join workshops, seminars and debates, including speaking opportunities at the UN’s High Level Political Forum, a Model United Nations (around issues within the Global Goals) and events at the UN Headquarters in New York City.  Students will be able to share about their school’s progress and generate even more ideas for tackling the goals, as well as seeing some of New York in person!

Nord Anglia Education students are encouraged to express their concerns at the highest level in their local communities and on the global stage. Each year, they are invited by UNICEF to engage with and influence world leaders at regional and global summits with UNICEF and the United Nations.

This is a unique honor for Daria and Idenya to contribute to the discussion and influence policy at the highest level. We look forward to sharing more over the summer.
