This week, over 1,200 students from across 19 schools in The Americas are meeting at Global Games in our sister school, Windermere Preparatory, in Orlando, Florida. The enthusiasm of our students has been high as they learn, compete, and connect with students from other countries. We’re seeing balanced and competitive games across all sports with the top seeds progressing to the next stage tomorrow.
TENNIS:
Each match at the Global Games has been designed to bring connectedness so that our students play together and learn the importance of teamwork, leadership, and fairness. We’ve seen a lot of excitement and swing on the tennis court in the co-ed doubles matches.
SWIMMING:
In the Florida heat, the swimming pool looks like a great place to cool off, but our student athletes have been displaying their speed and teamwork in the relays.
FIELD SPORTS:
For some schools, this is the first time they participate in the Global Games -- bringing more action to the Windermere fields! We’ve seen great competitiveness in soccer and flag football, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings in the next stages.
VOLLEYBALL:
Our students have showcased their talent with the ball in volleyball and sand volleyball, and we’ve witnessed outstanding teamwork as students use strategies to play fairly with their opposition.
GYMNASIUM:
Anyone watching basketball today was on the edge of their seat. The pace across all the games was intense with some high scoring games. It was just like the NFL at its best!
CLOSING Remarks:
Today’s games determined who will compete in the next stage of the 2022 Global Games. As we close out day 1, we’ll now shift our focus to tonight's social activities, where students can make new and long-lasting friendships with other students from across The Americas. Stay tuned for more tomorrow!
