International Day at BIS Houston
A Celebration of Our Global Family
International Day at the British International School of Houston connects our global family of more than 80 nationalities for an annual celebration that shares and shapes our international environment. Together with our PTO, we host cultural activities that reflect the diverse perspectives and experiences across our campus.
This event shows what a global education looks like at BIS Houston. Through meaningful learning experiences and opportunities to explore cultures from around the world, students build an understanding of internationalism in a warm and welcoming setting. Our school embraces a culture of vibrant diversity and global opportunities, and International Day brings our international community together in a way that encourages a strong sense of belonging.
A Whole School Experience Rooted in Global Learning
International Day is a time when our global family connects and enjoys traditions that reflect our international identity. Students, families, and staff take part in experiences that offer a window into the backgrounds that shape our community.
The Food Fayre, Hosted by Our Families
The food fayre is a central part of the day, hosted by BIS Houston families. Country stalls feature traditional dishes, artefacts, and cultural items. These impressive displays create an inviting space for students to learn about global traditions.
Families put a great deal of care into these stalls, helping students connect with cultural heritage in a meaningful and memorable way. The food fayre reflects the warmth and international character of our community.
The Flag Parade
The Flag Parade brings the school together. Students are dressed to impress in the costumes of their country, and walk behind the flag of their choice, representing the many identities within our global family. Families gather on the bleachers to watch this spectacular tradition, which brings the day’s celebrations to a close.
A Day That Brings Global Learning to Life
International Day reflects the international learning that takes place every day at BIS Houston. Through cultural exploration and shared experiences, students gain an appreciation for different perspectives and for the connections that shape our global community.
The event also highlights the strong partnership between families, staff, and the PTO, whose involvement supports a genuine and engaging community experience. The planning, logistics, organization and level of detail are second to none!
