BIS Houston Celebrates State Championship Wins in Swim and Soccer
Success isn't just about grades
Team sports are a perfect way for students to grow through opportunity and experience. They help young people develop life skills that guide them in school and in the world beyond it. Through shared goals, training, match pressure and supportive coaching, students learn how to solve problems, communicate clearly and stay composed when challenges arise.
These skills connect directly to what employers expect from future graduates. Resilience, curiosity and leadership remain around the top ten most in demand skills, sitting alongside analytical and creative thinking. Team sport strengthens all of these. Students learn to stay motivated when things get difficult, adapt to new situations and support others with confidence. They also build strong judgement, independence and the ability to work well in diverse groups.

A championship day for BIS Houston
Our Swim team and Varsity Boys Soccer team earned State Championship titles this season. These achievements reflect months of training, personal commitment and the steady encouragement of our global family. Athletics Director Sara Lopez shared her pride, “Our students showed real character. They supported each other, they stayed focused and they approached every match and every meet with integrity. We are proud of their success and even more proud of the way they achieved it.”
Varsity Boys Soccer, a team shaped by trust and teamwork
The Varsity Boys Soccer team demonstrated consistency and resilience throughout the season. They stayed calm under pressure, worked as a unified group and delivered their best when it mattered. Head Coach Tony Biddle shared, “This team earned their title through teamwork. They stayed patient, they trusted the process and they competed with respect. They represented BIS Houston with real maturity and outstanding sportsmanship.”
Swim State Champions, celebrated with championship level applause
Our Swim team delivered an exceptional season that reflected focus, community and confidence.
Congratulations to our student‑athletes. Our Varsity Boys scored 1st overall to take the State title and the Varsity Girls claimed 3rd. We are beyond proud of the achievements of the whole team, individual event performances and relay squads this season.
Head Swim Coach shared,
“Our swimmers showed real focus this year. They trained with purpose, supported one another and approached every race with confidence. Their title reflects the effort they put in every day.”
Our students-athletes had the opportunity to learn first hand what it takes to prepare, focus and compete at the highest level, gaining insight they carried with them to the state championships, taking a deep-dive into elite performance with three-time Olympian Camille Adams earlier in the season.
