Dear Parents,

I’d like to introduce myself to you and explain what my role will be as your children make some very big decisions in the next few months if they are in Year 13 or year if they are in Year 12. As students in an international school there are many options available to them on leaving school and in many different countries.

The choices and requirements can be truly overwhelming and as parents you can feel lost too if your child is interested in a different university system to the one you know. From both my experiences as a child and as a teacher I know what it is like to change education systems and how difficult it can be for students and parents to adapt. I have joined BISB to be with your children step by step as they make their university choices and ensure they make good International Diploma option decisions so that they don’t close doors to courses that may interest them at the end of the Diploma.

A bit about me: I have been working in education for ten years, as a History and Geography teacher and as a university counsellor in the UK and in Versailles, France. In my previous school students applied to and received offers from excellent universities in the UK, Canada, the US, the Netherlands and France. As a result I have a breadth and a depth of experience of university application systems for the anglophone world and in particular my knowledge of the British system enables me to pinpoint the best universities for students based on their own needs and academic ability.

I am very much looking forward to developing the counselling service at BISB for the IB diploma students and working with students lower down the school who need help focusing their IGCSE and Diploma options with a career or university course in mind.

I am available at BISB Monday to Friday and would be more than happy to meet with any parent who wanted to know more about their child’s options for 2018 and beyond. Feel free to email me with a query or to ask for an appointment at: kerri.decomarmond@bisb.sk

Kind regards,

Kerri de Comarmond
