WHAT WE WEAR

SCHOOL UNIFORMS AND DRESSCODE

At The British International School Bratislava we believe that wearing smart uniform helps students to feel like a part of a special and unique school community. They love to wear them and they wear them with pride.

NURSERY

There is no dress code in Nursery however, parents may be asked to provide waterproofs (jacket and trousers) and wellington boots for outdoor activities.

RECEPTION – YEAR 6

All school uniform items (except trousers and shorts) should have the official Nord Anglia Education (NAE) logo.

Summer Uniform 1st May to 30th September (optional instead of above):

Physical Education

Footwear

Every child needs at least one smart pair of black shoes or sandals, which will be worn in the school building (indoor shoes). These will be the shoes that children will be asked to wear if they are representing the school outside of the school building. The outdoor/playtime shoes can be another pair of black shoes or trainers (black or white, no bright coloured shoes or laces please). In the winter months some plain boots are allowed for outside with the smart black shoes / sandals being worn inside.

SECONDARY YEARS 7 - 11

All students at the British International School Bratislava must wear the school uniform. As a student at BISB, you are an ambassador for our school, and your dress and behaviour convey an impression to the public of our school. Teachers are required to enforce the dress code at all times and to encourage students to take pride in their appearance. School uniform must be worn correctly at all times on buses, in school and when on a school trip (unless special permission has been given). All uniform pieces should be clearly labelled with your name on it.

Uniform list

Footwear

If students choose to arrive at school in outdoor shoes, then they need to ensure that they have the appropriate plain black indoor shoes that meet the uniform requirements.
Students may choose to go outside at break or lunch time in their outdoor shoes, but they are expected to change their footwear before returning to lessons.

IB DRESS CODE – YEARS 12 AND 13

IB students are the role models of the school, and as such are expected to dress in a smart and respectable manner at all times. This means that they must dress in a professional attire, which is defined as follows:

Clothing

Footwear

Hair, make-up and accessories

For further clarification, please see the additional guidance overleaf. Any student who does not follow the school dress code will lose the privilege of wearing their own clothes, and will be required to wear school uniform, for a period defined by the IB coordinator. Suitable uniform items will be provided.

There is a designated teacher who will have the final say on whether an item of clothing is acceptable or not to wear for school.
