On 26th April, The British School of Nanjing hosted its annual Summer Fair, which attracted nearly a thousand members of our school community – both familiar faces and new – filling the campus with a wonderfully festive atmosphere.
The gaming area proved exceptionally popular, with queues forming at every stall. Children enthusiastically revisited their favourite activities time and again, their laughter echoing across the grounds. The highlight was undoubtedly the "Soak the Teacher" challenge organised by our Social Impact student group, where 13 courageous staff members volunteered to participate, raising an impressive ¥4,200 for Nanjing Qinhuai Special Education School – a testament to BSN's strong community spirit.
The performance area was equally vibrant, featuring a 10-metre outdoor stage hosting continuous entertainment throughout the day. From rock bands to orchestral performances, choir recitals to impromptu dancing, there was something for everyone. The afternoon reached its climax with the Afro dance workshop at 2pm, where children partnered with friends or parents to move to energetic rhythms, soon getting the entire audience swaying along in a sea of joyful movement.
Our Early Years section was delightfully busy, with families fully engaged in the interactive games led by our teaching staff.
This tremendous success was only possible through wonderful community support. The fair boasted 61 distinctive stalls, including 18 student-run enterprises. These young entrepreneurs demonstrated impressive business acumen, participating in all aspects from business plan development to stall design. Special thanks must go to our Parent Committee and Social Impact student charity for organising additional games and activities. We're equally grateful to our generous sponsors – LG Energy Solution, Pacific Plus Group, Harley-Davidson, Nanjing Ningbao, as well as the tremendous efforts of our operations team, teaching staff and event contractors.
We can't wait to welcome everyone back next summer!
