Admissions Open 2025-2026
We are pleased to announce that 2 students in Year 8 have had their mathematical ideas published by the website NRICH. NRICH is a website run by the University of Cambridge and is designed to provide opportunities to help students develop rich mathematical thinking.
Every month the website releases ‘live’ problems for students to explore and for them to upload their solutions online. The problems often link different topics together, and can be interpreted in many different ways. Solutions which are mathematically correct and have a clear explanation, are then selected to be published online.
Van Anh (8I) and Anh Minh (8I) have recently been working on the ‘Shifting Times Tables’ Problem which involves looking for patterns from a shift machine. Both of these students noticed that the difference between consecutive terms will always be the same. If you would like to see their ideas published, or would like to have a go at a ‘live’ problem, please click here.
Well done to Van Anh and Anh Minh for exploring these rich problems and demonstrating courage in sending their solutions and ideas to Cambridge. Both of these students, along with 6 teammates, will be representing the school in the FOBISIA Mathematics Competition being held in Kuala Lumpur in March 2019.
