Last week, Year 4 went to the Slovak National Gallery and were inspired by a photography exhibition.
The exhibition, Light on The Edge, depicted Modernism and late Modernism in Architecture through photography.
Ranging from the 1930s to the present day, the black and white stills allowed the children to see how Slovak architects have used their artistic talents to make the world a more aesthetically pleasing place to live.
After studying several photographs, the children were then able to ‘transform’ one another into a house of their own design. By sticking card around one another and cutting out holes to represent windows and doors, a walking human house was soon created.
Another group built apartment blocks and decided where to place the windows depending on the light.
Great work from our modernist architects.
