19 March 2015

BISB Squad – Vicky Rezesova, Emma Kristofovicova, Ester Perdochova, Aneta Luptakova, Stela Tvrda, Evelien Arts, Nicole Majska.
Games were played over four, six – minute quarters stop time.

Students from six schools competed in a basketball tournament on Friday and on Saturday, 13th and 14th March in Salzburg, Austria.

Group A: British International School of Bratislava BISB, American International School of Salzburg AISS, American International School AIS.

Group B: QSI Bratislava, International Christian School of Budapest ICSB, Inter–Community School Zurich ICSZ.

The first game against AISS girls started with confidence, winning the first quarter 6 – 0 and second one 17 – 4, where Nicole Majska scored 10 points out of 11. The third quarter brought the same score as the first one (6 – 0), with four points scored by Emma Kristofovicova. The picture of the game did not change in the last quarter as well with result 12 - 0, winning the game 35 – 4.

The girls went into the second game against AIS in a good mood, but also in a huge attenuation, losing the first quarter heavily 0 - 10. Awakening come too late, winning the third quarter 6 – 2 and with tight score 4 – 4 in the last one, losing the game 13 – 24, finishing second in the Group A.

Semifinals saw us take on the winner of the Group B and the later winner of the tournament – ICSB, who showed highly organized performance in this game as well as during the whole tournament. In spite of a big effort from our side, girls lost the game 7 – 34. Stela Tvrda scored 6 out of 7 points.

We went into the last game, winning which would secure the third place, again against AIS with a similar scenario in a first quarter, losing it 2 – 10. Girls took all effort in second one, winning 4 – 0, where Evelin and Emma scored. Exhaustion occurred mainly in the third quarter, losing 1 – 6. Despite enormous effort in the last quarter (winning 7 – 2, Nicole scored 6 points out of 7) the girls have failed turn the match to a successful end, losing just 15 – 18.

It needs to be said that half of our squad was three years younger than the rest of the players. Despite this fact, girls showed enormous tenacity, potential and fantastic effort.

Well done girls!
