VIS International Primary School Exchange 2015

14 May 2015

On Tuesday 12th May a select group of Year 4 and 5 pupils and myself, Mrs Natalia Kollarova, travelled to Vienna to take part in the International Primary School Exchange, hosted by Vienna International School.

On arrival our students were split into two groups, one for Basketball and one for Football. Then all participants were mixed to create teams.

The skills activities that followed allowed the players to get to know each other and quickly form cohesive units before the more traditional games of basketball and football began. The philosophy of the International Primary School Exchange is the promotion of 'Team Spirit' and 'Fair Play' above all else, and by mixing the students into different teams the emphasis was on teamwork, respect, making new friends and having fun.

All our students showed excellent sporting behaviour, spoke freely and confidently to the officials and effortlessly integrated into their allocated teams, making new friends with ease. The organisers and coaching staff from the other school made a point of inviting us to the next year’s event which again reflected the positive character of our students.

A huge well done goes to Benji Silverberg, Lolwa Alhamad, Rebeka Humlova, Louis Smekens (assistant Coach), Timea Rojnik, Viktoria Marianiova, Sebastian Kot, Natalie Klimkova, Madeline Keys, Laura Pancurakova, Louise Larsen, Vivan Hedge, Ilay Arbiv, Matias Kuusilehto, Eleanor Jablonowska, Mieke Schifferer Oleksandra Mylobog, Elena Centamore and Victoria Korbackova.
