After lunch we visited the Haus Der Musik and learned all about how sound is generated and how it effects our bodies. We were also able to learn a lot about the famous composers that lived in Vienna and had a go at conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra with their virtual exhibit. It was a great day and the students learned a lot.
Last week the Secondary Girls' Choir made a mini tour, visiting Dolinskeho on Monday, Amadeus School in Vienna on Wednesday and Cambridge School in Bratislava on Friday. The girls spent some extra time learning songs to appeal to younger children so that they could teach the children in the audience some songs and interact with them more. At Cambridge school on Friday they actually ran a workshop for 30 minutes with a Year 5 class, teaching them several action songs.
On Monday we had a solos concert at the Penati Club where several of our students took part in an hour long concert showcasing their individual talents. Children from Year 2 to Year 11 were involved on a variety of different instruments it was a really lovely evening.
Over the last couple of weeks our peripatetic teachers have been hosting concerts for their students after school in the primary music room. It's been fantastic to see everyone's contribution from absolute beginners to advanced players. These concerts have been very important as the students have been able to watch each other and be inspired by each other.
The ABRSM Theory exam went extremely well on June 18th with 75 students sitting exams from Grades 1-5. We will wait for the results now which should arrive mid-August.
Have a lovely summer - The Music Team
