As an exciting start to our Science topic – 'Living Things and their Habitats', Year 4 headed out on an exciting adventure to Dubravka Forest. The children explored and investigated the forest environment, they looked at a variety of habitats contained within the forest. We not only looked for, but listened out carefully for things that live in the forest. Fortunately, we did not encounter bears or wolves, but beetles, spiders, worms and fungus were abundant!

Our trip was an amazing introduction to our new topic, wherein the children will recognise that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways, they will explore and use classification keys to help group, identify and name a variety of living things in the local and wider environment, and they will recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things.

We were all extremely tired by the end of the day, but we had seen and heard many amazing things during our expedition. We discovered such a variety of interesting things during our trip that it has enthused us to find out more!
