Dance visit from Juilliard

We were very excited to have Salla (our Juilliard Dance link) visit on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th October to observe and teach a number of our wonderful students in Dance.

Dance visit from Juilliard

On Thursday 4th October, 4C was observed during a funky Street Dance lesson and showed off their unique moves to Salla. Also, 5A were taught how to be musical instruments themselves as Salla delivered a flamenco style session.

On Friday 5th October, a selected group of Year 7 students experienced how to choreograph some rhythmic phrasing using a variety of basic movements in small groups. They also performed these with lots of confidence to their peers at the end of the session. Class 4A got a taste of some partner flamenco in their lesson, developing their footwork patterns and body language with a partner.

All students have responded positively to Juilliard Dance in the curriculum, as they develop their technique and creativity as well as collaborative and problem-solving skills in lessons.

We look forward to having Salla visit again in February 2019!
