BISB IB Scholarship September 2019
The British International School Bratislava Scholarship programme aims to encourage and recognise students in their pursuit of excellence in both their work ethic and academic achievement. Those students who receive a scholarship/s will have exemplary character and will share the values of our school community. These students will exhibit qualities such as integrity, leadership, initiative, care and compassion for others, and personal responsibility.
'Believe it or not, iGCSEs are often used to determine if you are suitable for a University course.'
When
Students sit their iGCSEs in May of Year 11. iGCSEs generally have a combination of coursework and written exams.
Why are they important?
Put simply, good iGCSE grades give you more options to choose from at College, University and Work.
They are the first real proof (because they are externally assessed examinations) of a child’s academic ability and therefore are an important factor in university applications. The only other grades many universities see are teacher predicted grades, and while important, do not hold the weight of a grade already achieved, like iGCSE grades.
iGCSE results matter to universities. Highly selective courses have for some time been using prior attainment in iGCSEs to choose between high performing candidates.
You can get detailed information at the BISB Lecture on Thursday 18th October.
