IF WE BORROW, WE SHOULD RETURN

19 April 2018

The Eco-committee looked at the use of paper at our school. We found out that just for printing, we use about 100 000 sheets of paper every month. Production of this amount of paper, according to some websites, requires 8 trees. So, there are 80 trees for printing paper at our school every year, not counting trees needed to produce other paper goods. We believed that this needed a response and we decided that we would like the students from our school to plant some trees to try to give back what we take from the nature and we started to plan the GO GREEN WEEK.

Go Green Week has taken place this week. All students from the school participated in various ways. Year 7, 8 and 9 took part in most eco-challenges such as making zero waste snack, litter picking, creating green corners in their classrooms and designing an eco-code. We have to say that the students surprised very much by their enthusiasm and level of participation. It was lovely to see them cleaning the grounds around the school, planting plants and being creative. The form which gains the most points for the challenges will participate in the tree planting trip on Tuesday 24th April. The aim for us is to plant 300 oak trees. Fingers crossed!
