The annual TEDx event took place in our school in March 21th this year. The event was organized by a group made of 6 IB students. Throughout the period of 4 months the students spent a lot of time planning of the TEDx event, making sure everything goes smoothly and both the speakers and the guests experience a nice evening. The program consisted of workshops and a wide range of inspiring speeches and presentations presented by our quest speakers.
The TEDxBISB team met with the coordinator of the Eco-Schools project to discuss implementation of the new waste management system during the event. Our target was to produce the smallest amount of waste possible and avoid using single-use plastic. Even though some drinks were served from plastic bottles, we also offered tea and coffee, which reduced the amount of plastic waste produced. Instead of using plastic cups, the drinks were served in glass and porcelain. Before the event we listed all possible waste that was going to be produced during the event and we requested bins for recycling.
Organising TEDx was a great experience. Looking at an impact such event makes in term of waste production gave it another value.
