Deputy Head of Primary & Phase Leader Years 5 - 6
I am originally from New Zealand but moved to Australia where I completed a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts, International Studies (Spanish).
Senior Phase Leader & Phase Leader Years 3 -4
After completing my M.A. at Aberdeen University I worked for The British Council, The University of the West of England and Icon Films. I then completed my P.G.C.E. at the University of the West of England and then started teaching in London for Westminster Council. I then went to teach in Alexandria, Egypt for 2 years and then to Modern English School, Cairo for 7 years.
Nursery & Reception Phase Leader and Reception Teacher
I began my teaching career teaching English as an additional language in a local school in Wuhan, China. It was amazing to see how children learn and develop a language so quickly. I found this experience extremely inspirational and rewarding which led me to complete my PGCE qualification and become a Primary Class Teacher.
Phase Leader Years 5 - 6 & 6C Class Teacher
Born and bred in the North-East of England, close to the City of Newcastle Upon Tyne, I began my overseas adventure with my wife, Nicola and daughters Grace and Amelia in 2011. Initially, we spent 7 years in the amazing city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates where I taught at our Nord Anglia school.
Currently in my fourth year, enjoying working at BISB, I have taught in years 4 and 6 and this year, I have taken on the additional role of Phase Leader for years 5 and 6. It seems a long time and really is, since I qualified with a PGCE in Primary Education in 2003, however, my passion for teaching, creating fantastic relationships with students and helping them to become awesome young people still burns brightly. I firmly believe in a work hard, play hard ethos within my class and empowering the students to take a lead in their learning and develop skills which will set them in great stead for the future.
Phase Leader Years 1 - 2 & Year 1B Class Teacher
I am a passionate teacher with fourteen years teaching experience across the Early Years and KS1 in the UK. I have led many areas within the National Curriculum, including SEND and the Early Years. I am very enthusiastic about guiding young learners in the early stages of their education to enjoy lots of rich and exciting learning opportunities and so I am excited to be part of the team at The British International School, Bratislava.
