Six months is a long time without practical PHE at Northbridge International School Cambodia. The lockdown affected our subject more than most and we are so happy that lessons are back and our students are active.

In the current climate we still have to be careful about social distancing protocols and so we are implementing these within our PHE lesson planning as you can see from the photos. Our talented staff are adapting activities within the lesson to allow maximum enjoyment and learning. Here is Mr. Brandon instructing his students from a distance with students spaced appropriately.

Students wear their masks whenever they are in close proximity to each other but remove them from covering their mouth and nose when undertaking strenuous activity such as running.

Swimming is also back with Ms. Laurie, Mr. K and Coach Yulian with extra sessions for the swim squads in the morning, each day, before school. LEAP sessions for swimmers take place on the afternoons of Tuesdays and Thursdays for Primary.

Until current governmental restrictions are relaxed, team games such as football will not be going ahead which gives the opportunity to experience different physical activities instead. There are a multitude of activities that can take place safely and they all complement each other in student development.

Working on core fitness is crucial to development in any sporting activity and we are aiming as a school, to increase this capability among all age groups. Combining this with a skill activity ensures that students enjoy their exertions and work hard at the same time. Win Win!

Looking forward to the coming months here at Northbridge International School, we are preparing for competitions through our House system. These events will be held on campus with points scored for success in each activity counting towards a grand total for respective houses. Other school subjects will also be a part of this competition as we seek to build upon the new tradition and make it a central part of the school year.

If you have any questions about PHE or sporting opportunities for the Primary school, please do not hesitate to contact me or Ms. Laurie, our Swim Coordinator and we will be happy to answer. Let’s hope the next 6 months will be a thoroughly enjoyable time to be an athlete at NISC.
