Mother Tongue Provision

The students of Northbridge International School Cambodia come to us from a variety of backgrounds, and we strive to support the cultural heritage and learning goals of all our students and their families. We support the development of Mother Tongue language as a critical component to overall academic success.  In Grades 7-12, this takes the shape in a number of ways, including:

  • offering students the opportunity to study their Mother Tongue as their additional language choice with a tutor.  This begins in Grades 9 and 10, in preparation for studying Mother Tongue as a self-taught language in the Diploma Programme (grades 11 and 12)
  • encouraging students to access learning, conduct research and process information in their Mother Tongue as part of learning activities and assignments whenever appropriate
  • providing access to materials in their Mother Tongue with an ever-increasing number of language resources in our school library
