I met with one of our Secondary students earlier today, to discuss in more detail her service learning project and how the award from ACAMIS of $1000 will be used. Yoon Soo and Emma were given the award as a result of their service learning project, to help protect Moon Bears, which are endangered. The project was considered amongst many and was praised for being thoughtful and well-presented. The passion from this group is evident, and their commitment to helping make the world a bit better is to be applauded. We discussed how we can further support local charities, as it is important that we are part of the community here in Chengdu and Sichuan, and that our students have the ability to make a difference. We have a responsibility to ensure that our students, whether they become politicians or business leaders, lawyers or architects, or whichever profession they choose to follow, remember the benefits and joys of giving and helping, and are able to realise a brighter future. Our MYP and Diploma programmes, with a focus on international mindedness and on service, play a key role in this.
Our students have been enjoying healthy and nutritious meals everyday since they have returned to school. Have a look at what they have been eating this week. Variety choices and always healthy. Yum yum!
