The Fire Engine Visit by Tianfu New Area Fire Department

Léman students enjoyed a visit from the Tianfu New Area Fire Department.

Students in Nursery and Reception enjoyed the display about fire safety.  The visiting firefighters from the Huayang Station started by showing how quickly the they have to get dressed when there is an emergency.  The children cheered the firefighters by counting down as they changed into their firefighting protective clothing.

After learning what each item on the fire truck is for and why we must not play with fire, one student from each class was chosen to try on the heavy helmet, which the firefighters use to protect themselves.  They then opened up their fire hose to show the powerful reach when they spray water to put out a fire.

The fire siren was loud and many had to cover their ears.  It was very informative to learn why we must not play with fire.  Importantly, it was an opportunity to strengthen Léman students’ commitment to always respect and preserve the planet, and to ensure we understand the sacrifice firefighters all around the world make to protect and serve us at all costs.
