This week has been one of the busiest of the entire year for our community and all our Red Panda athletes.
Last Saturday, we attended the CISA U15 Basketball championships hosted by CDIS at the Overman gym. Athletes and some very vocal supporters braved the rain to come out and cheer for Leman. It was an amazing day and our student-athletes played their hearts out. We had some amazing victories and some tough defeats, but in the end, both teams emerged exhausted and proud with a 2nd place finish for our girls and 3rd place for our boys. Great thanks to coaches Tiffany Taylor and Kent Watkins for their amazing work so far. We continue training for our teams to attend the Nord Anglia Global Games event in Beijing from May 9-12th.
On Tuesday, we hosted the CISA Swim Meet. We welcomed more than 60 swimmers from all over Chengdu as well as their teachers coaches and parents. It was an electric atmosphere. Over the course of nearly 100 races, we saw incredible competition, passion, commitment and athletes pushing themselves to the limit. It was an inspiring day and one that our athletes are not soon to forget. It was another truly amazing CISA event.
We are currently hosting the ACAMIS Soccer Tournament with teams visiting from Beijing, Tianjin, Zengcheng and Chongqing. The weather has been really hot and the action has been blazing as well! We are honoured to be hosting this great event and look forward to reporting some great results. Look for more news in next week’s newsletter!
I would like to thank the dedicated staff at Leman who make events like these possible. Of course, we have our amazing PE staff of Ms. Felicia Dracz, Mr. Scofield Guo and Mr. Kuan Li. Paul McCarthy has been invaluable in helping us in so many ways this year. There are so many logistics involved in planning and executing events like these. It would not be possible to do such a great job without the support of Eric Liu and the Facilities team, Julia Guo and the Ayis team, Shirley Luo and the Transportation team, Tina Chen and June Ju in marketing and Tracy Luo and her team in Finance. Thank you so much for everything that you all do to give our students such special experiences.
