A true display of community, culture and a really special atmosphere was experienced today during our much anticipated annual International Day here at Leman. When walking around it was clear just how diverse our student body and staff population is with 41 countries represented today.
There was a buzz right from the students getting off the buses, to the parents arriving early and keen to set up their booths for the day. Dancers practicing and students in classes sharing their cultures with different presentations, craft and songs.
This continued with our Parade of Nations, a kaleidoscope of color and enthusiasm. Following this in a packed out gymnasium we were treated to dances from around the world, thanks for all who entertained us. It was evident the amount of practice and time that had been put in to your fabulous performances.
Booths opened at 12:40pm with a brilliant variety of activities and entertainment, tantalizing smells and delicious food. A huge thank you to the parents and staff who put in so much effort to delight our students and visitors. The vibe around the booths was electric.
With an International focus for learning this past two to three weeks in the Primary, students have learnt, appreciated and experienced a more in depth range of cultures and been able to form deeper connections with their peers. In the High School, International Day links to the concept of International Mindedness which can be expressed as showing respect and understanding for other perspectives, cultures and languages. We strive to have our students go out into the world as responsible members of the global community.
With over 1000 visitors on campus this year, International Day continues to grow. Again another thank you to all involved who helped to create an engaging atmosphere and learning experience for our students. International Day is a highlight on the Leman School calendar thanks to you.
