For those of you new to our Léman family, as well as those who are familiar with the concept, I’d like to introduce you to the program of trips for our Secondary school students this September. The Grade 6-11 students will be departing to destinations near and far from September 8th to 11th under the watchful guidance of our diligent teachers and experienced guides. This year we are delighted to once again link up with Extravagant Yak, who have designed our trips for the past three years. We love working with this company due to their excellent track record of providing safe, enjoyable and educational adventures for our students. For the coming season they have worked closely with our curriculum leaders to ensure a fun-filled educational experience, which we are confident the children will never forget.
The Grade 6 students will be going on the now familiar trip to Ganbao to experience Tibetan culture, whilst getting to know their new classmates and teachers, having just graduated from our Primary school. Our MYP Coordinator, Mr. Brown, will lead the learning experiences to ensure the pupils adjust to their new MYP Program, whilst making memories with their new friends. Mr. Ricohermoso and the Grade 7 students will embark on a journey to the breathtaking scenery of Sigunianshan (Four Sisters), where they will have an action-packed trip of mountain hiking, teambuilding activities, and interacting with local culture. Grade 8 have the honor of visiting Lijiang, for our first trip to this wonderful ancient town. As well as soaking up the culture of the local minority people, with a trip to the Impressions Show and a farm visit, they will also get to tour the world-renowned Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Jade Dragon mountain, for an unforgettable experience. As trip leader, I can certainly say I am excited to be leading our students to such a famous destination.
Grade 9 and 10 will jet off to Yangshuo on a new trip, specially designed for Léman students. This trip combines the unique karst landscape of the area, with a full program of outdoor adventures such as rock climbing and countryside cycling, while taking in the unrivalled beauty of the famed Li River. Mr. McCabe has been tirelessly working with Extravagant Yak, ensuring this trip is full to the brim of learning activities. Finally, our Grade 11 students are already well underway with planning their CAS trip to Kanding and Tagong, under the expert tutelage of Ms. Penstone. Here they will hone their service skills by helping and interacting with locals, surrounded by the soaring peaks and rugged beauty of the landscape.
Planning for these trips began last January, and the Secondary teachers have worked hard ensuring these trips are fully curriculum linked to learning goals for each grade. Almost all pupils have now registered, and we will be in touch to let you know payment details, and precise departure and arrival times early next week. If you have any queries about the process please contact Mr. McCabe by email at email@example.com or Paul McCarthy at firstname.lastname@example.org . We look forward to helping our students make lifelong memories with their friends.
