Junior Chef Baking Training @ Waldorf Astoria
Last month, the grade 4 students had the opportunity to be junior chefs at the Waldorf Astoria. The students were learning about the science of baking and how the various ingredients used in baking cause different reactions in the final product.
They had the opportunity to work in a professional kitchen with professional chefs. The students created a specialty of the Waldorf, Sichuan Sausage Bread. They learned how the ingredients worked together to make the bread rise. They learned how to shape the dough.
The children were also taken to the restaurant to enjoy some delicious treats from the hotel. Each child left with a certificate for completing the Junior Chef training and two buns of bread.
We are very grateful to Head Chef Jimmo, and all the staff, who gave a great deal of time demonstrating and explaining. We wish to particularly thank General Manager, Mr Frederik Genberg, who took such great care of the children on both days and ensured they had an unforgettable experience. Thanks also to Cee Deng who accompanied the teachers on the trips.
