Keeping up the St-Nicholas tradition

The students from PS to 5^th grade had a nice surprise this month! St Nicholas stopped by our campus in Pully to keep up with this wonderful Swiss tradition.

The tradition of St Nicholas goes back to the 4^th century. Nicholas of Myrna, a bishop in what’s now Turkey, is the patron saint of children and has become the inspiration for the modern-day Santa Claus. He was known for his generosity and, nowadays, he dispenses gifts of chocolate, nuts and fruits —as well as sage advice— to children.

In Switzerland, kids receive his visit on the 6^th of December with great excitement and joy.
