The students from PS to 5th grade had a nice surprise this month! St Nicholas stopped by our campus in Pully to keep up with this wonderful Swiss tradition.

The tradition of St Nicholas goes back to the 4th century. Nicholas of Myrna, a bishop in what’s now Turkey, is the patron saint of children and has become the inspiration for the modern-day Santa Claus. He was known for his generosity and, nowadays, he dispenses gifts of chocolate, nuts and fruits —as well as sage advice— to children.

In Switzerland, kids receive his visit on the 6th of December with great excitement and joy.
