Ms Sue Hill Weekly Update 27.11.2015

27 November 2015

Dear Parents,

This week was our

Anti-Bullying Week

. All children in our school talked about how bullying makes you feel and what you should do if you are being bullied. Classes made a slogan to chant and banners with strong messages on. Everyone then met in the Auditorium to listen to songs composed by children in school. The culmination of our campaign was a ‘Make some Noise about Bullying’ protest march through all the corridors in our school. Secondary teachers and students came out of their rooms to clap and cheer as the Primary shouted their messages proudly. We all firmly believe: we don’t want bullying at the BIS!

Thank you to Ms. Hughes and her team for organizing the event and all staff and pupils for having a voice.

Parents too found out about more bullying on Tuesday morning, at a special coffee morning focusing on on-line bullying and internet safety. Mr. Ian Stephens delivered a somber presentation about cyber bullying and gave many useful ways that we can minimise the potential dangers associated with the internet. Taking an interest in what your child is accessing on-line and who the ‘friends’ are that they meet through social networks and on-line gaming is a positive step. Watching for changes in your child’s behaviour or moods and being there for them if they need someone to talk to are also important.
