I had a lovely morning attending today’s Key Stage 3 assembly. The students took turns to present their memories of the Expedition Week earlier this term. It was clear from the lively presentations that the trips made a significant impact on the children. The combination of photos, stories and games on display helped capture the richness of their learning experience. The assembly also gave me an opportunity to present several certificates to deserving students. The young students of our school are making an outstanding contribution and it was a great feeling to spend time with them and witness their enthusiasm as a group.
We are proud of our School Council
Earlier in the week, I had two meetings with members of the school council. We discussed a range of issues from hair dryers in the bathroom (not happening) to healthier snacks in the canteen at break times (this is going to be implemented). The students were articulate, passionate and very responsible. They represent their peers better than some of the politicians in the headlines this week.
It is another eventful weekend for our students. There is a science debate on Saturday at UNIS and at the same time the Varsity basketball teams will be competing there, too. Finally, Mr Atkinson’s Varsity football team have a practice fixture in preparation for the Phuket tournament later this month. I wish all of our competing students good luck. Go BIS!!
