The Tet Assembly, Friday 9 February, 13:30 pm
Ms Hai and her team have prepared a spectacular Tet assembly. Once again, I welcome all of our parents to the school to celebrate with us.
We learned so much!
It was wonderful to see so many of you attend our Y8 teach the parent event on Tuesday evening. Your children delivered some amazing lessons, which were fun, informative and thrilling. The children grew in confidence, as they taught us, and our understanding developed at pace throughout the evening. We can see from the photographs taken on the evening that the lessons we learned made an impressive impact.
Why do we hold teach the parent events?
These events have great importance. Firstly, many of you did not attend a British international school; therefore, the event gives you an insight into the school system that you have chosen for your children. Secondly, teaching methods change regularly and the event allows parents to keep pace with the changing world of education. Thirdly, the event provides an opportunity for the children to clarify their understanding of the lessons. Mastery of a subject is one of the keys to good teaching. The teach the parent event, challenges the children to prepare thoroughly and understand their subjects at a deeper level. Finally, the event strengthens our community, invites you to participate in our school and celebrate its greatest achievement- the personal growth of your children into confident scholars.
Learning together is good for everyone
Prior to the event above, all secondary and primary teachers attended a seminar held by Paul Murphy of Juilliard. Paul demonstrated through workshop activities ways in which teachers can enhance the performance of individuals. He also showed us how to bring groups of individual learners together to achieve even greater collective outcomes. It was another reminder of the great value our Juilliard partnership, unique to Nord Anglia schools, brings to the teaching and learning environment at BIS Hanoi.
