Year 10 iGCSE business studies students have been collaborating with Mr Andy Bird of Epicure as part of a marketing competition. Students had to find a suitable new product to sell in Queen Bean café from August.

To be successful, students had to consider all elements of the marketing mix and make use of market research that had been conducted by business studies students in their enterprise ECA.

English Teas were the winning group. It was their careful use of the market research collected and their pricing strategy which impressed Mr Bird.

The winning group included Le Tuan Long, Nguyen Duc Tuan and Zheng Yiwen who are pictured above after receiving their “Be Ambitious” certificates from Mr Webb. They were able to have a follow up business meeting with Mr Bird to discuss their ideas further and to find out what it is like to manage a catering business.

I would like to thank Mr Bird for his support of the students in this competition. They thoroughly benefited from the opportunity to bring their business theory to life.

Mr Eamon Kelly
