Key Stage 3 Basketball Tournament

10 November 2015

Close fought games - victories snatched at the end!

  • Girls basketball tourrnament 20151110
  • Boys basketball tourrnament 20151110

This week the girls’ basketball team got their first win of the season. After going down by 3 points to BIS in the first half the girls came back really positive and went on to win the game 10-8.  The students had a great attitude and were keen to learn and improve. This was reflected in their performance. Well done to all players involved!

Alicia Smith - PE Teacher

The girls were the epitome of the word ‘team’. They worked hard and they worked for each other. These are an excellent group of students whose only downfall is their inexperience in playing basketball. They have all the tools to be a really good team but need more practice and games under their belt to blossom further. This week’s match was a really tough game, won on a single basket. Ahead in the final quarter, the girls held their nerve and defended their lead to come up eventual winners.

The boys’ game ebbed and flowed. It was a very scrappy game with many cheap fouls given away from both teams. The team could not get a run of points going and found themselves down by 2 baskets.

Excellent individual performances from Xuan Quang and Gia Phuong dug us out of a hole in this one. There is more to come from this team but they need to start gelling together and working as a unit. It was still a good win for the team leading into the finals which are coming up soon!
