Mr Mark Sayer Weekly Update 22/1/2016

22 January 2016

I write this section of the newsletter from London where Principals and other staff from the Nord Anglia family are engaged in the all-important process of recruiting new staff for next year.

  • BVIS Hanoi Weekly update 20160122

Such has been the growth and the development of our school at British Vietnamese International School that again we are projecting high demand for places in the new academic year.  We are planning accordingly.  With the move to new facilities for Primary and the increase in numbers in the Secondary section of the school, we will require additional teachers to deliver the courses that your children want to do, and to have the right ratios of teachers to children to ensure the continuation of the high quality education we offer.

It is without doubt the most significant factor in the attainment and improvement of the students that they have in front of them teachers who are passionate, creative, patient in delivery, caring about the outcomes.  Parents will have read a number of articles from me and my colleagues about the growth in skill set, in their attitude and in the initiatives that are introduced to ensure that the teachers themselves are always learning in order to assist your children.  Outstanding teachers make outstanding schools.

I will be writing next term to inform parents of new staff appointments and any who may, quite naturally, be coming to the end of their contracts and therefore their time in Vietnam.  For me, it is a key role of mine to ensure that both the quality of the educational provision as well as the ethos of the school – its warmth, positivity and focus – are maintained.  For football fans amongst you, it is just like building a high quality football team, performing consistently at the highest level.

It has also been an exciting opportunity for us to gather as Principals, as we did in Switzerland in October, to share ideas, to regroup from our busy lives around the core values of the Nord Anglia Education group.  It is always a pleasure to do so and is widely recognised by all our schools to be of immense value.  There is a great power to the collective thought, reflection and collaboration of our 42 schools that continually assists us in developing and improving our educational offer.
