Primary Weekly Update 24/08/2018 from Dr Nici Wood

I am delighted to be given the opportunity to introduce myself as the new Head of Primary here at BVIS and already, with the support I have received from everyone that I have met, I feel quite at home.  Thank you for this.
Welcome back to all of our existing families; it has been a pleasure to hear from your children about your travels and adventures over the break.  We are so fortunate to be able to lead such full and interesting lives.  A big BVIS welcome to all of our new families too!  I thoroughly enjoyed meeting most of you at the Orientation Day on Monday.  I hope that your children have begun to settle and, of course, if you are experiencing any difficulties, or you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teachers.  You will find their email addresses at the front of their home/school diaries.
This week, the school felt alive again as the children returned to school, met their new teachers, re-established friendships and made new friends. We hope, as parents, you will make new friends too, as we invite you to join us for our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evenings next week:

  • Primary: Wednesday 29th August 5.30pm, Primary Sports Hall and then Year Group classes
  • EYFS: Thursday 29th August 5.30pm, EYFS Auditorium and then EYFS classes

I can’t wait to meet you all then.

There are some other events that we would like to draw your attention to so that you can plan ahead. For some of our children, our Sports Clubs will begin on Tuesday September 4th and ECA’s, or after school clubs, on Monday 24th September. These activities are for Primary age students from Year 1 to Year 6. More information will be sent to you from our CHQ system over the next few weeks so that you can make club choices for your children.

On behalf of our entire Primary staff, once again, welcome to the new year and we look forward to developing stronger relationships together to continually improve the learning for our children.
