The IPC is not simply a curriculum; it is also a philosophy, pedagogy and teaching/learning process that helps students, teachers, school leaders and school communities continuously to improve the learning outcomes and experiences for students. The IPC defines clear processes and methodology with specific goals for each learning topic. The two most important orientations are to help children create global values and improve personal awareness. We use the modified version of the International Primary Curriculum to ensure that students learn a variety of concepts and develop a global mindset in both English and Vietnamese.
The teaching objectives of the IPC include the following aspects:
Learning Goals: content goals in each topic and lesson. At the end of studying in the Primary school at BVIS, students will have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and understanding about the world around them, from natural sciences to social sciences. Specifically, students will study subjects including: History, Geography, Sociology, International Studies, Science, Engineering and Technology, Music, Arts and Physical Education. At BVIS Hanoi, parents will have opportunities to participate in student’s learning at Exit Point lessons when they can come to school and watch student’s activities, listen to presentations about the topic or join their children in interesting activities.
Personal Goals: The IPC programme helps students gain essential values, to become modern citizens in the C21st. Students are equipped with the necessary knowledge and are ready to address challenges and changes in life. The Personal Goals of the IPC involve fostering and developing essential competencies, personal qualities and attitudes, which are suitable for BVIS students. These include: Enquiry, Reflection, Integrity, Adaptability, Perseverance, Communication, Cooperation, Respect and Care.
International Mindedness: This IPC International Goal helps students not only to be aware of themselves but also care for their community and the wider world. In addition, this goal also creates inspiration for positive activities, connecting students to global issues.
In conclusion, the IPC equips and helps students integrate easily with the on-going development of the world, ready to become C21st citizens in the future. It is a programme that staff students and parents widely appreciate for its breadth of knowledge, skills acquisition and enjoyment of learning.
