New Learning Spaces in Elementary

New Learning Spaces in Elementary

As one enters the Civic Patio, one is immediately surrounded by the bustling sound of learning. Elementary students have joyfully made the whole campus theirs, and they are bringing their young, happy voices into areas that they had not explored before. Outside the new yoga, music and performing arts classrooms, students walk in a lovely garden where round tables invite them to sit under parasols and work in small groups. This is also a well-loved spot for birthday celebrations!

As they go back to their classrooms, students walk by the entrance to the library, a space that feels new and revitalized. Modern furniture, well-designed areas, loving details and a wide array of books remind each child that reading is an adventure to be savored, and many of our students spend time upon arrival or during recess curled up in a cozy corner with a book of their choice.

Going up a flight of stairs, Elementary students from third to sixth grade visit the new STEAM lab where once a week they work collaboratively and put their creativity into play, finding innovative solutions to challenges from the MIT curriculum. They also have access to a fully equipped computer lab whenever these challenges require research.

The second floor continues to offer students spaces to expand their knowledge and enrich their learning experience, such as the science lab, two art rooms, the Media Lab, and several music rooms. This floor also houses the classrooms for our oldest students, the sixth-grade class.

During recess, Elementary students have access to bigger play areas, and many choose the outside soccer field as a place to run, play badminton, and enjoy the toys teachers set out for them to play with their friends. And of course, participate in informal soccer matches.

The Elementary campus is full of life, and walking its halls is a joyful and rewarding experience.
