Update on the ongoing Northbridge Virtual School Experience in EL3 When faced with the challenge of moving to remote learning in EL3 at Northbridge International School Cambodia, we wanted to ensure that we could still provide the children and their families with a sense of continuity and structure to their school day. We have done so by continuing to offer all children with daily play-based, purposeful and practical learning experiences to complete at home.

When faced with the challenge of moving to remote learning in EL3 at Northbridge International School Cambodia, we wanted to ensure that we could still provide the children and their families with a sense of continuity and structure to their school day. We have done so by continuing to offer all children with daily play-based, purposeful and practical learning experiences to complete at home.

Additionally, a virtual connection with our EL3 children has been made daily both individually and collectively as class via our SeeSaw and Google Hangouts to help maintain these positive relationships with teachers and friends. When planning for our learning experiences we knew that remote learning for early learners must incorporate the following;

Make Positive Connections

This is an uncertain time of change in our children’s lives, we found it was crucial for them to maintain their relationships they had formed at school with both teachers and peers.

Be playful, fun and authentic

Teachers need to be in the moment acknowledging individual children. Learning experiences need to be fun and engaging and allow children to revisit their learning both from school and home.

Be in partnership with parents

Our parents have been instrumental in the delivery of our remote learning program for our students. Therefore it was important that the planned learning experiences were parent friendly and easy for parents to implement at home.

Celebrate the achievements of students

Acknowledgements of your child’s work is so important during this time. Celebrations of their achievements and creations fills them with self-confidence and they feel valued.
