Wellbeing Week

Wellbeing Week - Wellbeing Week

At Léman, the well-being of our students is a top priority. To foster a positive and healthy mindset, we recently organized a Well-Being Week filled with engaging activities and opportunities for self-reflection. This article highlights the transformative experiences that took place throughout the week, emphasizing the importance of providing young people with the necessary knowledge and tools to manage their own mental health and well-being.

Each day, we began with a lively session called "Wake up Shake up" to invigorate our students and set a positive tone for the day ahead. The students actively participated in this energizing activity dancing to music, which helped them start their mornings feeling refreshed, motivated, and ready for learning.

Our Early Year students were given the chance to explore the Well-Being Forest—an outdoor area where they could ponder and reflect, allowing them valuable time away from the classroom environment. This serene setting provided them with an opportunity to connect with nature, enhancing their sense of well-being and fostering creative thinking.

In the primary school, a wide range of activities was planned to promote a healthy mind. Mindfulness exercises, yoga sessions, and meditation practices were conducted to help our students develop focus, concentration, and inner peace. Furthermore, collaborative endeavours within the classroom encouraged communication and listening skills, nurturing healthy relationships among students.

Our secondary school students also engaged in mindfulness practices, including meditation sessions and creating thank you cards as a means of reflection. They were encouraged to express gratitude and appreciate the many wonderful aspects of their school life. The main emphasis during this week was on enabling students to enjoy their favourite music, practice yoga, and cultivate calmness—a holistic approach to their mental well-being.

To conclude the week on a philanthropic note, we invited both staff and students to wear green and contribute 10 RMB towards a well-being charity—The Chengdu Children's Welfare Institute. This act of generosity highlighted the genuine care and concern our school community has for others, further enhancing the sense of well- being.

As an observer of this eventful week, I had the opportunity to witness the positive impact it had on the students. Personally, I found great joy in dancing alongside the children, witnessing their enthusiasm and the happiness that physical activity brings to young minds. It reinforced the importance of regular exercise and how it contributes to overall well-being.

Well-Being Week at Léman served as a testament to our commitment to nurturing not only academic development but also the mental health and well-being of our students. By offering diverse activities such as "Wake Up Shake Up," well-being forests, mindfulness exercises, yoga sessions, meditation practices, and fostering healthy relationships, we equipped our students with valuable skills and tools to manage their own mental health effectively. Such initiatives promote a positive atmosphere within our school community and lay the foundation for lifelong well-being habits among our students.
