Léman International School Chengdu was proud to host the CISA STEAM Festival 2026, welcoming students and teachers from international schools across Chengdu for a morning of creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
The festival brought together young engineers and designers to take part in the exciting challenge of designing and building Rube Goldberg machines. Working in teams, students engaged in a structured design process that mirrored real-world engineering practice.
Throughout the event, students progressed through key stages of learning:
Researchingideas and understanding how simple machines and chain reactions work
Planning and designing their Rube Goldberg systems through sketches and discussions

Building their machines using a variety of materials
Testing and refining their designs to improve functionality and reliability

This hands-on approach encouraged problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and resilience as students refined their ideas and learned from trial and error.
Participating schools included:
Malvern College Chengdu
Chengdu Meishi International School
Chengdu International School
QSI Chengdu
BIBS Chengdu
Chengdu Cogdel School
Léman International School Chengdu
The event concluded with a celebration of participation, where students were recognized for their effort, collaboration, and creativity through participation certificates, reinforcing the importance of the learning journey as much as the final outcome.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all visiting schools and supervising teachers for their enthusiasm and support in making the festival a success.

The CISA STEAM Festival continues to highlight the value of hands-on, inquiry-based learning and meaningful collaboration between schools, and we look forward to future opportunities to bring students together through STEAM.
